Why Math
“Math has always given me a way to stay intellectually engaged with the world around me. It is not only a way for my students and me to understand the most complex issues occurring today, but it also provides the foundation needed to solve those problems.”
Professional Experience
During his time at the University of Virginia, Alex volunteered weekly in elementary schools as a teaching assistant, tutored international students in English, and worked as a teaching assistant for several engineering math and advanced German courses. In addition, he worked at UVA as a graduate research assistant using digital imaging techniques to study the damage mechanisms of nuclear fuel claddings. Alex has co-authored five peer-reviewed journal articles.
Alex will begin his second year of teaching at Thomas A. Edison High School, within the Global STEM Challenges Program, during the 2022–2023 school year.
