Why Math

“Throughout my K–12 experience, it was difficult for me to feel like the content was relevant and applicable to my life. However, in my AP Calculus class, learning extended beyond the textbook through a culturally reflective curriculum. We engaged in mathematical analysis of relevant data, engaged in meaningful discourse, and were constantly challenged to use critical thinking and problem solving to observe the world around us. This course challenged the ways that I conceptualized and understood urban education, but sparked a new love of learning and mathematics in me.”  

Professional Experience

During her undergraduate career at the University of Southern California, Jacqueline worked as a high school mathematics tutor for five years through a local outreach program, USC Med-COR. 

Jacqueline will begin her second year of teaching at South East High School, the high school that she attended, during the 2021–2022 school year.  


In her spare time, Jacquline enjoys painting, crafts, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
