A teacher’s role is so broad. They are there for their students to support them to achieve whatever they desire to do. This can mean supporting them emotionally, socially, academically, or in any other facet of their life in which they might need help.”

Jeff’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Chemistry

Why Chemistry

“I absolutely love chemistry. I find it so interesting to be able to understand and explain so much of our world, even more, common things such as making bread or cleaning the kitchen. I like that chemistry is applicable to almost everything in my life and even the practice of chemistry typically requires a hands-on, real-world approach to discover new things.”

Professional Experience

Jeff worked as a math and chemistry tutor from 2013–2015. He served as program coordinator for the University of California San Diego Math Tutor Corps during the 2018–2019 school year. In this role, he coordinated sending math tutors to local underserved and underprivileged schools.

Jeff will begin teaching at San Dieguito Academy during the 2020–2021 school year.

Volunteer Experience

Jeff volunteered in various roles for Pilgrim Pines Summer Camp for seven summers. He also serves as an adult leader for the youth group that plans activities and programs for Pilgrim Pines’ high school age group.
