Data Analysis Protocol For Analyzing Your System Using Activity System Framework (ASF)
This resource provides a protocol to support educators in examining the systems that impact their teaching or leadership practice—attending to how the elements within that system interact to produce particular outcomes. While the protocol can be used individually, colleagues’ perspectives can deepen understanding and generate richer insights. Educators are encouraged to use this tool with colleagues who share a commitment to learning together.
This protocol is designed for users who are familiar with the Activity System Framework and have experience engaging in structured dialogues to analyze data with others. Adapted from the ATLAS protocol, it supports educators in slowing down to look closely at data from their system, surface and question assumptions about how system elements interact, consider multiple perspectives, and identify leverage points for change. Participants should come prepared with data that has been collected and organized in advance for analysis.
